The El Chingon: Our $45 Giant Burrito

The El Chingon is the biggest burrito on the Locos menu in Lake Havasu City. This burrito may be the largest burrito available in Lake Havasu. It’s built around your choice of meat and loaded with homemade rice, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, our homemade guacamole, tomato, onion, cilantro, and salsa. It measures about 16″ and weighs about 6lbs, which is enough for 4-5 people to share.

It’s made for sharing after a long day on the lake, or for a birthday table that wants a photo. If you’re coming in specifically for the El Chingon, call Swanson at (928) 732-0522 or Northside at (928) 466-9960 so the kitchen knows it’s coming.

Breakfast Burritos All Day Until 9 PM

Most breakfast spots in Lake Havasu stop serving at 11 AM. At Locos, the whole breakfast menu runs from 11 AM to 9 PM, including all three breakfast burritos. Come off the water at 3 PM, or want breakfast for dinner? The bacon Breakfast Burrito, the Chorizo & Egg, and the California Breakfast Burrito are still on the menu.

The California Breakfast Burrito is the most loaded of the three: carne asada, fries, scrambled eggs, cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream, with beans on the side. Pair any breakfast burrito with a Lisa Lisa’s Paloma, and you’ve got brunch at any hour. See everything else we serve all day on our All-Day Breakfast menu.

How to Order Your Burrito: Dry, Wet & Cheezy or Chile Verde.

Dry is how every burrito comes by default: wrapped and ready to eat by hand. It’s the best choice for takeout and for eating on a boat.

Wet & Cheezy adds sauce and melted cheese over the top for $3. It turns any burrito into a fork-and-knife plate, which works best when you’re dining in.

Chile Verde covers the burrito in our slow-cooked pork Chile Verde for $5. The Chile Verde Burrito already comes topped with it.

Chimichanga means the burrito is deep-fried until the outside is crisp. Arizona restaurants in Tucson and Phoenix have argued for decades about which one invented it, so it’s a fitting order in Lake Havasu. Ours come with rice and sour cream, from $14.

Burritos To Go for a Lake Day

A dry burrito is one of the easiest meals to take on the water at Lake Havasu. It’s eaten by hand, it holds together in a bag, and it doesn’t need a table. Our best travelers are the bean and cheese, carne asada, and Breakfast Burrito. Leave off lettuce and sour cream if your burrito will sit for a while, since cold toppings steam inside the wrap.

Call ahead and your order will be ready when you pull in.

What Goes Into a Locos Burrito

Locos Bar & Cocina is family-owned by Jesse and Lisa Marquez. Their recipes come from family, and a lot of what goes inside our burritos is made in our own kitchen: the rice, the refried beans, the guacamole, the red enchilada sauce, the ranchera sauce, and Grandma’s salsa.

That’s why the prices are what they are. Our carne asada is grilled, our Chile Verde is slow-cooked pork, and the Surf & Turf uses grilled shrimp and steak.

Locos has two full-service restaurants with a full bar so that a burrito can come with a Jesse’s Cadillac margarita. Groups are welcome. The Swanson private dining room seats 40, and the Northside patio holds 60. Locos is listed on GoLakeHavasu.com, the city’s official visitor guide.
